The whole world needs to know about pollution and take steps to reduce it, because the negative effects of pollution are serious and possibly deadly. All types of pollution are harmful to human health and wildlife and add to climate change, which puts the whole planet in danger. Knowledge is power, so learning about the effects of pollution is extremely important to make changes for the better.
Air, Soil and Water pollution add to climate change and decrease human health. Pollutants also endanger many plant and animal species.
Effects of Air Pollution
Air pollution can have a serious heath hit/effect on humans. If you are exposed to very high levels of air that dirty the air, oceans, etc., you may experience irritation of the eyes, nose and throat, breathing loudly, coughing and breathing problems and have a greater risk of heart attacks. Air pollution can also make worse existing lung and heart conditions, like breathing disease. Smog can irritate the eyes and throat and also damage the lungs.
Effects of Soil Pollution
Pollutants soil, most often from industrial sources, (cutting down huge numbers of trees) and improper waste disposal, put animals and plants in danger. Soil containing unwanted things by chemicals eventually becomes unable to grow crops and unable to support crops and other plant life. This interferes with food production and can lead to (not being given enough food) in local communities. If soil pollutants produce contaminated food, anyone who eats it may become ill.
Effects of Water Pollution
In water resulting from trash, oil spills, sewage spills and run-off from farming-based fields, construction places/locations and factories affect native plant and animal species. Drinking contaminated water caused by sewage overflow may cause sickness and digestive problems in humans. such as mercury in fish and seafood can lead to serious health problems, especially in children and expecting women.
Health impacts of air pollution
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, there has been a steady change in the combination of different substances, objects, people, etc. of the atmosphere mainly due to the burning (in an explosion) of (coal, natural gas, oil, etc.) used for the generation of energy and transportation. Air pollution is a major (the health of surrounding conditions/the health of the Earth) problem affecting the developing and the developed countries alike. Air that are inhaled have serious effect on human health affecting the lungs and the breathing and lung related system; they are also taken up by the blood and pumped all round the body. These pollutions are also deposited on soil, plants, and in the water, further adding to human exposure.
Impact of air pollution on health
Indoor air pollution can be especially dangerous to health as it is released close together to people. It is stated that a (something that dirties the air, oceans, etc.) released indoors is many times more likely to reach the lung than that released outdoors. In the developing countries a fairly large part of/amount of the population is dependent on (energy from) wood and plant material for their energy needed things. These include wood, charcoal, farming-based residue, and animal waste. Open fires used for cooking and heating are commonly found in the household both in the (away from cities) and the city-based areas. The stove is often at floor level, adding to the risk of (sudden unplanned bad event/crash) and the (keeping yourself/something clean) factor. Also, they are often not fitted with a chimney to remove the (things that dirty the air, oceans, etc.). In such families the children and women are most likely to be affected, as they are the group that spends more time indoors. The main (something that dirties the air, oceans, etc.) in this (surrounding conditions) is the suspended (related to tiny particles of dust, etc.) matter.
Health impact of specific air pollutants
Some of these gases can seriously and negatively affect the health of people/of the group and should be given due attention by the concerned authority. The gases talked about/said below are mainly outdoor air but some of them can and do happen indoor depending on the source and the facts or conditions.
- Tobacco smoke
- Biological pollutants
- Volatile organic compounds
- Formaldehyde
- Radon (Radioactive Gas)
- Ozone
- Oxides of nitrogen
- Carbon monoxide
- Sulphur dioxide SO2 (Sulphur dioxide)
