ROHINI – Registry of Hospitals in Network of Insurance – a unique initiative by Insurance Information Bureau of India (IIB) and promoted by the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India, is a central repository of information for hospitals in the Insurers Providers Network. The registry contains approximately 33,000 unique hospitals and will act as a one-stop source of information related to health insurance, hospitals, and beyond for insurers, medical services providers, customers, and regulators.
1) What is ROHINI?
ROHINI – Registry of Hospitals in Network of Insurance.
Hospitals can benefit greatly from being a part of ROHINI. The registry offers greater visibility, credibility, and branding opportunities for hospitals. Hospitals can register and edit their information and broadcast address or contact information changes to all stakeholders with a few clicks. Claims processing is also faster with ROHINI, and there is the possibility of electronic exchange of medical records between hospitals and insurance companies in the future.
2) Why should hospitals be part of ROHINI? How does ROHINI benefit them?
ROHINI’s launch is a significant development for the health insurance industry in India, which is close to Rs 20,000 crore, including government schemes. It provides a credible source of information on hospitals, and it will help avoid duplication since every hospital will have one unique identity number. The registry has a hospital self-service portal for fresh enrollment, addition/deletion, or amendment of already registered details, and alerts are sent to insurers and third-party administrators for any changes in the registry.
Future enhancements will be made to the registry with attributes like the number of beds, specialisation, details of doctors, and classification/categorisation of these hospitals into clinics, hospitals, diagnostic centres, among others, based on feedback from stakeholders, their evolving needs, and experience in the initial phases.
ROHINI is a significant step forward in the healthcare sector in India, and I&D Hospital Solution is actively working towards adopting the latest technologies to improve healthcare administration. If you encounter any complexity in registering your hospitals/healthcare units, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Talking on the sidelines of this event, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) chairman T S Vijayan said that this will enable insurers to get access to authentic and de-duplicated registry.By registering with ROHINI, new hospitals can gain greater visibility, credibility and branding. They can also edit and update their information easily through the self-service portal. This can help them reach a wider audience and get more business.
Moreover, ROHINI can improve the cashless business process for hospitals. By having a unique identity number for every hospital, ROHINI can help avoid duplication and confusion in the cashless claims process. The hospital self-service portal can be used to enroll new hospitals, add or delete details, and amend already registered information. This can reduce the time and effort required for claims processing and make the process smoother and more efficient for all stakeholders involved.
In the future, ROHINI will also enable electronic exchange of medical records between hospitals and insurance companies seamlessly. This will further improve the cashless business process and help hospitals provide better and more efficient healthcare services to their patients. Overall, ROHINI can be a game changer for hospitals in India, as it will allow them to streamline their processes, gain more business, and improve the quality of healthcare services they provide.
